about us

Campus Hotels was founded in 2017 by Zev Klasewitz, an accomplished real estate executive with over 20 years of institutional investment experience.

From 2012 to 2016 Mr. Klasewitz led hospitality investments for AIG Global Real Estate Investment Corp (“AIGGRE”) overseeing hotel investment origination, financing and asset management throughout the United States.  Under his leadership, AIGGRE built a 13-property portfolio of premium-branded upscale and upper-upscale select-service, extended-stay and lifestyle hotels totaling 2,481 rooms.  Brand companies include Marriott, Hilton, Starwood (now Marriott), and Hyatt.

Four (4) of those hotels (totaling 589 keys) are located in major research university markets:  Aloft Nashville West End, Nashville, TN (Vanderbilt University); Hilton Lexington Suites (reflagged as Embassy Suites), Lexington, KY (University of Kentucky); Hyatt Place Columbia Downtown/ the Vista, Columbia, SC (University of South Carolina); and Aloft Gainesville, FL (University of Florida).

Prior to leading hospitality investments for AIGGRE, from 2007 to 2012, Mr. Klasewitz served as Vice President of Debt Capital Markets for AIGGRE, where he was responsible for sourcing debt for the company’s ground-up construction projects, acquisitions and refinancing.  In that capacity, he originated and structured senior and mezzanine debt totaling $2.4 billion.

Prior to AIGGRE, Mr. Klasewitz was a Vice President at Lehman Brothers for 8 years (1999-2007) where he served as Global Real Estate and Structured Finance Risk Manager, with responsibility for a $20 billion global CRE portfolio.

Mr. Klasewitz earned a Master’s degree in Real Estate Investments from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Finance from California State University, Fullerton.
